1. Introduction
Welcome to StreamVault (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our managed VOD archiving service (the “Service”).
By accessing or using StreamVault, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this policy, please do not access the Service.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register for the Service, and data that is automatically collected to perform the archiving functions.
A. Personal Information
When you sign up, we may collect:
- Contact Details: Name, email address (e.g., via Discord or Direct Sign-up), and billing address.
- Billing Information: Payment method details (processed via our third-party payment processors; we do not store full credit card numbers).
B. Platform Data (Twitch/Streaming Services)
To provide the archiving service, we require specific access to your streaming platform account via OAuth (Open Authorization). We collect:
- Twitch User ID and Username.
- OAuth Access Tokens: Used to authorize downloads of your VODs and chat logs.
- Stream Metadata: Titles, game categories, timestamps, and duration.
C. Archived Content
The core function of StreamVault is storage. We store:
- Video Files (VODs): Copied from your streaming platform to our storage infrastructure.
- Chat Logs: Real-time chat history associated with your streams.
- Thumbnails and Assets: Visual assets related to your VODs.
Note: You retain full ownership of your Archived Content. We act as a data processor/host for this content.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the Service: Automatically download, process, and archive your streams and chat logs.
- Manage Your Account: Process payments, manage subscriptions, and provide customer support.
- Send Notifications: Alert you (via Email or Webhook) when archives are complete or if an error occurs.
- Improve Reliability: Monitor disk usage and system health to prevent data loss.
4. How We Store Your Data
StreamVault uses a hybrid storage architecture to ensure durability and performance.
- Processing Storage: Active downloads are processed on secure Virtual Private Servers (VPS).
- Long-Term Storage: Completed archives are synced to enterprise-grade object storage (e.g., AWS S3, Backblaze B2).
- Location: Our primary infrastructure is located in Australia, though data may be replicated to other regions (US/EU) for redundancy and speed depending on your location.
5. Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We only share data with third-party vendors essential to operating the Service:
| Provider Type | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Cloud Infrastructure | (e.g., Hetzner, AWS) Hosting servers and processing power. |
| Object Storage | (e.g., Backblaze B2) Long-term preservation of VODs. |
| CDN Providers | (e.g., Cloudflare) Delivering content quickly and securing traffic. |
| Payment Processors | (e.g., Stripe) Handling billing transactions. |
| Analytics | (PostHog) Understanding how visitors use our website. |
6. Analytics
We use PostHog for website analytics to understand how visitors interact with StreamVault and improve our service.
For visitors who are not logged in: We collect anonymous, aggregated data (pages viewed, general region, device type, referral source) without cookies or persistent identifiers. Each visit is treated as a new anonymous session—we cannot identify you personally or track you across sessions.
For logged-in users: When you log into your StreamVault account, we associate your activity with your account to track feature usage and diagnose technical issues. This is processed as part of providing our service to you.
We do not:
- Sell analytics data to third parties
- Use analytics for advertising or profiling
- Share your data with advertisers
Analytics data is processed by PostHog, Inc. in the United States. See PostHog’s privacy policy for details.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
- Active Accounts: We retain your Archived Content for as long as your subscription is active and you remain within your storage quota.
- Cancellation: If you cancel your subscription, we retain your data for a grace period of 7 days to allow you to download or migrate your archives. After 7 days, all VODs, chat logs, and metadata are permanently deleted from our servers and storage buckets.
- Upon Request: You may request the deletion of your account and data at any time by contacting support.
8. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your data, including:
- Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit (SSL/TLS) and generally encrypted at rest where supported by the storage provider.
- Access Control: Direct access to the archiving infrastructure is restricted to authorized engineering staff for maintenance purposes only.
However, please remember that no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

Depending on your location (including Australia, the EEA, or California), you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:
- Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
