Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about preserving your Twitch broadcasts with StreamVault.
About Twitch VODs
How long does Twitch keep VODs?
Twitch keeps VODs for 14 days for regular users and 60 days for Turbo subscribers, Partners, and Affiliates. After this period, VODs are automatically and permanently deleted from Twitch's servers. StreamVault captures your streams in real-time, preserving them before Twitch's deletion window expires.
What happens to my VODs when I cancel my Twitch subscription?
If you cancel Turbo, lose Partner/Affiliate status, or downgrade your account, your VOD retention drops from 60 days to 14 days. Any VODs older than 14 days will be deleted immediately. StreamVault provides permanent storage independent of your Twitch account status, so your archives remain safe regardless of subscription changes.
Can I download my Twitch VODs before they expire?
Yes, you can manually download VODs from Twitch before they expire, but this requires remembering to do it for every stream, keeping your computer running during downloads, and managing local storage. StreamVault automates this entire process—your streams are captured live and stored in the cloud automatically, with no manual intervention needed.
How do I save Twitch streams automatically?
StreamVault is the easiest way to automatically save your Twitch streams. Once you connect your channel, every stream is captured in real-time at source quality and stored securely in the cloud. There's nothing to configure after initial setup—just stream as usual and your VODs are preserved automatically.
Does Twitch delete VODs after 60 days?
Yes, even Partners and Affiliates with the maximum 60-day retention will lose their VODs after that period. There's no way to extend this on Twitch itself. StreamVault provides permanent storage for your broadcasts, keeping them available for as long as you maintain your subscription.
Storage & Archiving
What happens when I hit my storage limit?
When you reach your storage limit, the oldest VODs are automatically deleted to make room for new content. This keeps your most recent streams available while staying within your storage hours. You'll receive a notification before any content is removed.
How do I free up storage space?
You can manually delete old VODs anytime from your dashboard to reclaim storage hours. This gives you full control over which content to keep and which to remove. Deleted VODs free up space immediately for new recordings.
Can I add more storage to my plan?
Yes! Use the "Need More Storage?" slider on this page to customize your storage capacity. We offer efficient storage blocks (40h, 100h, 200h) that you can combine with any feature tier. The system automatically finds the best block combination for your needs.
